This level is non-compulsory. Places are guaranteed and coordinated by Government agencies. In addition, there are private nursery schools and kindergartens.

Infant Education is divided into two stages:

• Ages 0-3: Provided at Haurreskolak, or infant schools.
• Ages 3-6: Provided in schools.
