The bid for innovation is key to Fomento de San Sebastián. Since the agency was first established more than 100 years ago, it has been a driving force of social and economic transformation. Critical elements in this bid are knowledge, talent, innovation businesses and entrepreneurs, and the drive for cooperation in a rich, diversified environment like Donostia.
Our innovation strategy is aimed at:
- Boosting talent by supporting its development, creating local talent retention opportunities while focusing on the recruitment of people with high capabilities and of local talent abroad.
- Supporting high value-added business projects that are a driving force in the city for the creation of new business opportunities generating employment and having a huge growth potential, especially in strategic sectors with good future prospects.
- Boosting the innovation ecosystem by means of networking, dissemination platforms, joint promotion, specialised activities, and so on.
- Positioning Donostia-San Sebastián as an innovation city with the help of all city actors, using a common language, forged bottom-up.
The inclusion of a fourth level in our ‘quadruple helix’ strategy – public-private participation, or the so-called ‘social innovation’ – is crucial. In line with this, new open innovation tools are being tested to solve some of the challenges faced by the city working with key actors in the ecosystem.
